Greater Works is an organisation devoted to demonstrating the love of God, through His power.  Jesus speaking to his disciples says, 'greater works than these shall you do because I go to the Father' (John 14:12). I personally distinguish disciples from believers in the following way; believers believe that Jesus is the Son of God; disciples give up their lives for Him. Also, note the preceding descriptive, 'those who believe in me'. The amplified version describes this as 'steadfastly, consistently believing in the name of Jesus'. So there may be some stipulations to whom operating in 'greater works' applies. But for those who meet this criteria, Jesus is clear;

GREATER WORKS THAN THESE SHALL YOU DO

('these' being the works that He Himself had done).

This ministry exists to DEMONSTRATE the power of God and the truth of His word.

We are living beneath the standard of love and power we are equipped to walk in.

There is a world waiting to see the sons of God manifested. The Kingdom of God is at hand.

Kenyon wrote, 'Before Jesus returns there will be a mighty army of believers who will learn the secret of living in the name, reigning in life, victorious, transcendent; the life of the son of God among men' What are we waiting for?

Greater works than these shall YOU do.

Verily, verily, I say unto you. He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. John 14:12 (King James Bible)

My Pledge of Faith

I'm part of the fellowship of the unashamed. I have the Holy Spirit power. The die has been cast. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made - I'm a disciple of His. I won't look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still. My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, my future is secure. I'm finished and done with low living, sight walking, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tame visions, worldly talking, cheap giving, and dwarfed goals.

I no longer need preeminence, position, promotions, plaudits, or popularity. I don't have to be right, first, tops, recognized, praised, regarded or rewarded, i now live by faith, lean in His presence, walk by patience, am uplifted by prayer, and I labor with power.

My face is set, my gait is fast, my goal is heaven, my road is narrow, my way rough, my companions are few, my Guide reliable, my mission clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, deluded, or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of the enemy, pander at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity.

I won't give up, shut up, let up, until i have stayed up, stored up, prayed up, paid up, preached up for the cause of Christ. I am a disciple of Jesus. I must go til He comes, give til I drop, preach all I know, and work til He stops me. And when He comes for HIs own, He will have no problem recognizing me...my banner will be clear!

Who was/is Jesus

What can I say about this wonderful Man-God? He is perfect! This is who it’s all about. He is more important than it is possible to describe. He was with God (uncreated supreme being, creator and ultimate Father) from the beginning. He is the son of God but equal to God. He chose to come down to earth and risk his divinity in order to help us, whom He considers His family. He has a personality. He has feelings. Jesus has been my friend and constant companion since I was 5 years old. Don’t mess with Him.

Jesus was humanly-born onto the earth in 00ad about 2000 years ago.

Jesus is referred to as many things depending on what you choose to allow him to be to or for you. He is:

- King
- Saviour
- Friend
- Ruler
- Lord
- Lover of your soul
- Brother
- Lion of judah

...and much more.

The bible isn’t the word of God. Jesus is.

Who he was not

Jesus is or he is not who he said he was (Kenyon). Jesus was not just a good man or a godly man. He was not an angel or a wise philosopher. Jesus believed he was the son of God. As Kenyon first put it; this either makes him a crazy person or true.

What was he like

Jesus was both gentle and strong. He was always loving but that didn’t mean he was ever a push over. Jesus spoke his mind. Jesus was not afraid of people. Jesus was very giving. Jesus protected the weak. Jesus spent time alone or with close friends. He travelled a lot. He enjoyed food and fellowship. Jesus liked being around children. He did not like pride or falsity.

What did he do

Until he was 30 we know he worked as a carpenter for his dad and studied the scriptures. At 30 he was summoned into ‘the ministry’ where he would begin to demonstrate that he was actually the son of God. He began to teach and operate in supernatural power. Everything he did was good and was also setting him up for his final direct earthy victory; beating satan, for our sake.

When he did this he returned from 3 days ‘in hell’ and spoke to his disciples telling them - I’m going back to heaven to be with the father and it’s better that I do this, rather than stay with you in this form, because when I go I will send you THE HOLY SPIRIT (and He will dwell in you and empower you). I’m going back to heaven with business now taken care of. So now the goal is for you to operate in my name, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and represent me on this earth, do what i did, tell people my story and what I have done for them and demonstrate that I am the son of God.

When he sends us the Holy Spirit he is sending his spirit to dwell in us. the Holy Spirit is a person (for a thought provoking insight into the 3 persons of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit see the book The Shack). The Holy Spirit in you is what empowers you to be like Christ because it IS Him in you. The Holy Spirit is

- the comforter (note: not the accuser)
- the power source
- the guide and teacher

What did he say

He said we must love each other. He said that he does not lie. He said that we must live for him; with an eternal perspective. He said He is always with us.

Why is he important

Without him and what he succeeded in doing we would all be paying for our sins. when we sin (disobey or disagree with what is true and what is of God) then our enemy (satan) holds this against us. we would have become slaves to him (satan) and would be indebted to him and would all have had to pay with our lives and go to hell. Not good! Jesus prevented that by choosing to come and fix things. The only thing we have to do now is acknowledge Him and what He did, and choose Him as our Lord over satan and we are free. The analogy is stepping from darkness into light. To the extent that we make him Lord and give Him rulership over us is the extent to which we see and can do more truly amazing things. It’s an exchange and it’s real. Don’t suffer and die and go to hell when someone else paid your way out and wants to love you and equip you to be like Him - perfect and powerful and in partnership with the supreme deity! Pretty stupid to turn down an offer like that. Know this - you are passionately loved by the creator of the Universe and you are equally hated by His enemy.

BE

THE CHURCH (CAUTION: SIGNS WILL FOLLOW THOSE WHO BELIEVE)

Misconceptions About "The Church"

First of all, lets be clear: we are the church. The church is not four walls and a steeple. Being in a building does not mean that you are a Christian any more than being in a hospital means you are a doctor. There are doctors in hospitals (just as there are believers in churches), but you do not just become a doctor or a believer just by virtue of being in a building. Be conscious that you are the church as you move and walk through life. It is your example that people witness. Fellowship with likeminded believers is important, simply attending a church without internal or external change or application, is not.

Early Church

Jesus comforts and instructs His disciples ahead of the imminent loss of his physical presence from them; saying it's better that He goes because He will send the comforter (the Holy Spirit (HS)) to them and that they should do the same and greater works He did because they will have the HS and He will now also be praying for us at the right hand side of the Father. Perfect! Jesus said "the works that I do you shall do and greater than this', this included miracles of healing the sick, raising the dead, casting out demons; things that Jesus had commanded His disciples to go and do when He first commissioned them to preach the Gospel. 'Greater Works' are done in the name and authority of Jesus Christ and by the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus is King and has given us charge to extend His Kingdom on His behalf.

Acts of the Apostles

Here are some of the feats of the early apostles:

  • 3,000 saved at once (Acts 2:41)

  • Speaking gospel in multiple unlearned foreign languages (Acts 2:11)

  • Prison doors opened for them by angels (Acts 5:19)

  • Miraculously walked out of prison despite chains and guards (Peter, Acts 12)

  • Speaking with wisdom and Spirit such that it could not be withstood (Acts 6,10)

  • Raised the dead e.g. Dorcas (Acts 9:41); Eutychus (Acts 20:9-12)

  • Recovered from near-death stoning (Paul)

  • Speaking 'in tongues' (God's language) (Acts 19:12)

  • Frequently interacted with angels (e.g. Acts 10:4)

  • Accurately predicted a world famine (Acts 11:28) or other specific events (Agabus, Acts 21:11), (Paul, Acts 27:10)

  • Viper wrapped around hand but suffered no harm (Paul, Acts 28:5)

  • Iron gate opened for them 'of its own accord' (Acts 12:10" * a personal favourite!

  • Translation? (Philip, Acts 8:39)

  • Face like that of an angel (Stephen, Acts 6:15)

  • Was murdered without complaint (Stephen)

  • Shadows healed people (Acts 5:15)

  • Accused of having 'turned the world upside down' (Acts 17:6)

  • People healed and delivered, even fabrics that touched Paul's body healed and delivered people (Acts 19:12)

  • Controversially following the words of Peter, Ananias and Sapphira both collapsed dead (Acts 5:5)

  • Elymas the sorcerer was struck blind following the words of Paul (Acts 13:11)

  • Communicated 'through the Spirit' (Acts 21:4)

Modern Day Greater Works

  • I heard that John G Lake put his hand on a telegraph poll in South Africa and said anyone who touched it after he left would be healed. Hundreds were.

  • I heard that Smith Wigglesworth punched people and tumors dropped out of their bodies.

  • I've heard about starving Indian mothers who close their eyes and thank God for food for they family which then materializes on the table in front of them day after day.

  • I've prayed for people who have metal rods in their back which have disappeared. I have declared specific times for a healing to occur and have unintentionally healed people with a touch not even knowing they were sick.

What is your story? This is a call for GREATER WORKS testimonies. What are you doing with the power and authority Jesus has given you? We are told to be HIS witnesses (Acts 1:8). Send us your testimonies.

If we come to Him like they came to Him, if we hear what they heard, if we believe what they believed or better, if we call on Him like they called on Him, or recognize who we are and what we have, if we pray like they prayed or act as they acted but learn from their mistakes and benefit from their groundwork, we will see what they saw and do what they did, or better. Take the limits off and do mighty exploits for God.

Be Kingdom minded. You are equipped.
